Preheat your air fryer to 360°F (182°C).
In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined but do not overwork the mixture.
Divide the beef mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, making sure to create a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.
Place the patties in the air fryer basket, ensuring they are not overcrowded.
Cook the burgers in the air fryer for about 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, or until they reach your desired doneness (an internal temperature of 160°F for medium).
If you are adding cheese, place a slice on each patty during the last 2 minutes of cooking.
While the burgers are cooking, you can toast the buns in the air fryer if desired, for about 2-3 minutes.
Once cooked, remove the patties from the air fryer and let them rest for a couple of minutes.
Assemble the burgers by placing the patties on the buns and adding your favorite toppings.
