Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground sausage mild or spicy your choice
  • 1 8 oz package cream cheese softened
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 ½ cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 10 oz can Rotel (diced tomatoes with green chilies) drained
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper optional for heat
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley or green onions chopped for garnish

Method

  1. Warm a large skillet over medium heat and cook the ground sausage until it’s nicely browned and crumbled; drain off any excess fat.
  2. In a mixing bowl, blend together the softened cream cheese, sour cream, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper if using, plus salt and black pepper until smooth.
  3. Fold in the cooked sausage, drained Rotel, sharp cheddar, and mozzarella cheeses until everything is well combined.
  4. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Transfer the mixture into a greased 8x8 or 9x9 inch baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
  5. Bake uncovered for about 25 to 30 minutes, or until the dip is hot, bubbly, and golden around the edges.
  6. Garnish the dip with chopped fresh parsley or sliced green onions and serve it warm with your choice of tortilla chips crackers or toasted baguette slices.

Notes

  • For an extra kick, feel free to add a bit more cayenne pepper. You can prepare the dip a day in advance and refrigerate it before baking. Serve hot for best flavor and texture.
