Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 2 teaspoons avocado oil
  • 1 pound boneless skinless chicken breasts

Method

  1. Slice the chicken breasts into thin, flat pieces rather than bite-sized chunks; pat any excess moisture dry.
  2. Combine the paprika, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and brown sugar and evenly sprinkle the mixture over the chicken pieces in a bowl.
  3. Add the avocado oil and toss well to fully coat each piece with the seasoning.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 415 degrees Fahrenheit.
  5. Place the seasoned chicken in a single layer in the air fryer basket, allowing space for air flow.
  6. Cook the chicken for 10 minutes, checking thickness; if pieces are larger, cook closer to 13 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees.
  7. Remove the chicken and let it rest briefly before slicing and serving hot and juicy.

Notes

  • Adjust salt quantity based on chicken weight: use 3/4 teaspoon salt for 1 pound and 1 teaspoon for 1.5 pounds of chicken. For kosher salt, use 1 teaspoon per pound. You may marinate the chicken with the spice mix for up to 24 hours in the fridge; add cornstarch just before cooking for best texture. Feel free to experiment with paprika variations to suit your taste. For an easy shortcut, try substituting the paprika, salt, onion, and garlic powders with 1 tablespoon of McCormick Rotisserie Chicken Seasoning. A fantastic dipping sauce option is mixing mayo with gochujang sauce, grated garlic, soy sauce, and a splash of rice vinegar seasoned with salt and pepper.
