Ingredients

  • 3 pounds sirloin steak, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 Tablespoon vegetable oil (you may need more)
  • 1 small sweet onion, thinly sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup unsalted beef stock
  • 1 ounce packet au jus gravy mix
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, thinly sliced

Method

  1. Season the sirloin steak bites with kosher salt and black pepper.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and sear steak bites until browned on all sides, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Transfer the seared steak bites to the slow cooker.
  4. Add the thinly sliced sweet onion and garlic over the steak.
  5. Pour in the unsalted beef stock and sprinkle the au jus gravy mix evenly.
  6. Top with sliced unsalted butter.
  7. Cover and cook on low for 4 hours until the steak is tender and flavorful.
  8. Serve hot, spooning the garlic butter sauce over the steak bites.

Notes

  • For best results, sear the steak bites before adding to the slow cooker to enhance flavor. Adjust seasoning to taste and serve with sides like mashed potatoes or steamed vegetables.
